The 10.11 Festival

The official opening launches the 10.11 festival, whose name points to 10 November 1989 — the start of Bulgaria's democratic transition — and which sets the communist past in the context of how it is remembered and understood today. Organised by the Sofia Platform Foundation and New Bulgarian University, the festival brings together tours, exhibitions, theatre, film, workshops and discussions. The opening features remarks by Irina Dakova, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Tourism, and Louisa Slavkova, founder and co-director of the Sofia Platform Foundation.
