I, Who Love You

The action takes place somewhere in Europe, in a big city, during a war, when a general mobilization of men is declared. To avoid being called up, Alexander disguises himself as a woman — Bella — and moves to another city, but over time he becomes so absorbed in this invented identity that he unwittingly starts to believe the fiction is real. Bella writes letters to an imagined fiancé at the front and gradually falls in love with her own invented correspondent. The theatre describes the show as a funny, candid and profound tale of a young human soul fighting for the right to love, against the backdrop of the horrors of war.
