The Chilean

"The Chilean" is a drama by director Sergio Castro San Martín (Italy, Chile, Switzerland, 2026), based on a book by Juan Cristóbal Guarello. It follows Aldo Marín, a young Chilean revolutionary and explosives expert living in exile in Italy after protests against a mining company. There he meets Luciana, an anarchist physician who offers to help him reunite with his family — but only if he takes up his old trade again and builds bombs for the revolutionary cause. The film premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2026, where Sara Serraiocco won the Boccalino d'Oro award for best acting. The screening is part of the Cinelibri film festival programme at NDK.
