Hansel and Gretel

An old, ancient story whose characters come alive in the hands of the forest's fairy-tale puppets... A marionette show for children over 3. Dramatization and direction: Iro Petkov and Simona Nanova. Set design: Silva Bachvarova. Music: Metodi Ivanov. Performed by: Simona Nanova and Rosen Rusev. You'll see the story of Hansel and Gretel told exactly as the Brothers Grimm wrote it — the pebbles, the breadcrumbs, the wonderful gingerbread house, and how Gretel pushes the Witch into the oven. But if you've ever wondered, "How can a mother, out of need, abandon her children in the forest?" — come to the show, and we'll offer one possible answer. The production has won the jury and children's audience awards at the "Burborak" festival (Smolyan), First Prize at the Hamburg European Puppet Festival '99, and at the Ljubljana Mini Theatre Festival 2005. It was filmed by Bulgarian National Television. Performed in Bulgarian, German and French.
