I Pay

"I Pay" is a comedy/tragicomedy by French playwright Yves Jamiaque, successfully staged across Europe — especially in Russia — for two decades. It centers on a lonely gentleman who decides to buy himself feelings and family happiness by hiring a professional actress to play his wife, a street prostitute to play his daughter, and a penniless Parisian painter to play his friend — a theatre-within-a-theatre in which no genuine feeling is allowed.
