The Iron Lamp

A production by the Theatre of the Bulgarian Army based on Dimitar Talev's 1952 novel of the same name, staged by Asen Shopov (who also created the set design and musical arrangement), from a dramatization by Hristo Hristov. Set in the Prespa region at the end of the 19th century, it follows the Bulgarian struggle for freedom and self-determination through the fates of Hadji Serafim's family — his granddaughter Sultana, Rafe Klinche, Katerina, Nia, Lazar and other characters. One of the theatre's most beloved productions, it regularly plays to full houses and has toured Northern Macedonia.
