An Ideal Husband

"The Ideal Man" is a comedy based on Oscar Wilde's play, staged at the National Theatre and directed by Thierry Harcourt. It centers on a tangled intrigue around Sir Robert Chiltern — regarded as a model of integrity — whom the beautiful Mrs. Cheveley pressures into a wrongful act, while the play examines the ideals of life, marriage and society. Harcourt describes it as "a light comedy with serious content" that uses laughter to lay bare human relationships and to celebrate ease, playfulness and freedom of spirit.
