Sweeney Todd

"Sweeney Todd" is Stephen Sondheim's musical thriller — one of the most significant works in musical theatre history, winner of eight Tony Awards and a staple of leading stages worldwide for more than four decades. Staged in Bulgaria for the first time, it tells the story of barber Sweeney Todd, a man stripped of his family, his future and his faith in justice, whose return to London turns his search for fairness into an all-consuming hunger for revenge. Director Petar Odazhiev frames the classic as a pointed parable about a society that has stopped seeing the person in front of it, asking what happens when someone loses faith in justice, and where justice ends and revenge begins.
