Golemanov

A play by St. L. Kostov, directed by Stoyan Radev. A political satire written nearly a century ago that remains popular on Bulgarian stages. In the director's words, the production approaches the work not as a judgment of its characters but as self-reflection — 'the desire for power is inherent to humans, it motivates their actions and guides them'. The staging aims to turn the audience's laughter from detached observation into self-irony, encouraging viewers to recognise themselves in the characters. As the production notes put it, 'laughter helps us discover and accept the truth more easily; it purifies and heals'. Running time 2 hours.
