Götterdämmerung

"Götterdämmerung" (Twilight of the Gods) is the fourth and final opera in Richard Wagner's Ring cycle, staged at Sofia Opera by director Plamen Kartalov. The Norns, daughters of Erda, spin the rope of fate, but Alberich's curse on the ring tears it apart. Deceived by a magic potion, Siegfried betrays his love for Brünnhilde and meets his death, after which she sacrifices herself in a redemptive act of self-immolation that consumes Valhalla in flames. The opera is the grand finale of Wagner's saga — a story of betrayal, redemption, and the fall of the gods.
