Siegfried

"Siegfried" is the third opera in Richard Wagner's Ring cycle, staged at Sofia Opera by director Plamen Kartalov. Orphaned and raised by the dwarf Mime, the young hero Siegfried forges the legendary sword Nothung himself, slays the dragon Fafner who guards the cursed ring, and learns to understand the language of birds. His journey leads him to a fire-ringed mountain peak, where he awakens the Valkyrie Brünnhilde — the two fall in love, and she renounces her immortality for him. The opera is a story of fearlessness and devotion within Wagner's grand saga.
