CineLibri 2026 – The Narrow Road to the Deep North

A Cinelibri 2026 festival screening of the Australian-American miniseries "The Narrow Road to the Deep North" (2025), directed by Justin Kurzel and adapted from the Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name by Richard Flanagan. Set in 1943 in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp on the Thailand-Burma railway, it follows Lieutenant Colonel Dorrigo Evans, who sustains himself through the memory of a brief but fateful love affair with Amy, his uncle's wife — a story intertwined with his marriage to Ella and his friendship with fellow soldier Frank Gardner. It's a multilayered story of enduring love, an intimate character study, and a clash of cultures on both sides of the conflict, starring Jacob Elordi, Ciarán Hinds, Odessa Young, Olivia DeJonge, Heather Mitchell, Simon Baker, Thomas Weatherall and Essie Davis.
