About
Andrzej Wajda's film about the life of the painter Władysław Strzemiński, a charismatic teacher at the school of fine arts. After Stalin tightens his grip on Poland in 1945, Strzemiński refuses to compromise his art with the doctrines of socialist realism; hounded and expelled from the university, he becomes a symbol of artistic resistance to tyranny. Running time: 100 minutes.
