All the Night's Lovers

"All the Lovers in the Night" is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Japanese writer Mieko Kawakami (author of "Breasts and Eggs" and "Heaven"), directed by Yukiko Sode. At its center is Fuyuko — a solitary professional proofreader who rarely goes out during the day but loves to walk late at night. The film tells the story of her first love and explores not only the beauty of romance but also the contradictions it brings. It has established Yukiko Sode as one of the most exciting new voices in contemporary Japanese cinema.
