Shakespeare's comedy "Much Ado About Nothing" has been on the stage of Theatre "Bulgarian Army" for more than 25 years — one of its longest-running and best-loved productions, seen by over 250,000 spectators. The story takes the audience to 16th-century Messina, among young people caught up in love and desire, who tangle themselves in misunderstandings before finally finding reciprocity and happiness. The production is directed by Krasimir Spasov, recipient of the Union of Bulgarian Actors' "Ikar" award for lifetime achievement, with set and costume design by Radina Bliznakova. The music is by Stefan Valdobrev, who wrote the song "Paradise" especially for the show — a tune that went on to become a hit in its own right in Bulgarian pop music. Actors such as Ivan Radoev, Kamen Donev, Stefan Valdobrev and Stefania Koleva made their stage debuts in this production, with new generations of performers joining the cast over the years.
