Ivanov

A man in a trivial patriarchal world and the flaw that sets him apart — an inept player on uneven ground, with faltering resistance and guaranteed failure. Life as a competition, mistimed blows, pyrrhic victories, a dead end. The story of a striking non-hero with a depersonalizing surname — loved at the moment of his strength or his weakness, he is broken and isolated. The story of each of us — "there are thousands of Ivanovs."
