"Socrates' Last Night" is a play by Stefan Tsanev, staged at Theatre 199 under director Suni Suninski, with Ivaylo Hristov, Atanas Atanasov and Irini Zambonas. 2424 years after Socrates' final night before the cup of poison, Tsanev tells of ancient Greece, of today's Bulgaria, and perhaps of tomorrow's world, raising questions of power and democracy, personal freedom, and the right to one's own name. With set design by Nikola Toromanov and music by Milen Kukosharov, the production marks the theatre's 60th anniversary — the play had its world premiere on this very stage back in 1986.
