Cinelibri: "Ostajnica"

“Ostaynitsa” (“She Who Remains”) is a Bulgarian-Albanian-Italian film directed by Kostadin Bonev, based on the acclaimed novel by Rene Karabash. It follows 16-year-old Bekia, who in the Albanian mountains renounces her femininity, takes the name Matja, and becomes a “sworn virgin” to escape a forced marriage — a choice that shatters her family. Ten years later, Matja travels to Sofia to explain her decision. The screening is part of the CineLibri film festival at Lumiere Cinema, NDK.
